The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution’s 20th Annual Spring Conference will take place on April 4-7, in Washington, DC. This is one of the premier ADR conferences, and this year’s location provides an excellent opportunity for Maryland ADR practitioners, program administrators, judges, and policymakers to enhance our skills and learn about innovations in the ADR field.

We particularly want to make you aware of the full-day Symposium on ADR in the Courts, which will take place on April 4. This annual symposium is planned by court ADR professionals for those who work in and support court dispute resolution programs. This year’s symposium will include a plenary keynote by the Honorable Eric T. Washington (Retired Chief Judge, DC Court of Appeals) on ADR and access to justice (A2J), as well as sessions focused on:
Ensuring the quality of court ADR programs,
Court ADR case management systems,
Integrating online dispute resolution (ODR) in the courts,
A comparative study of different ADR program models in federal district courts,
Ethics of judges servings as mediators, and
Resources for court ADR professionals.

The symposium will be followed by the opportunity to tour the DC Multi-Door ADR Division (one of the first court ADR programs in the country) and a reception at the DC Court of Appeals.
