MD CASA Association Webinar: Burnout & Compassion Fatigue
In this webinar, Dr. Salazar will be discussing Burnout and Compassion Fatigue in volunteers and professionals who are devoted to the help and care of others, in particular, children who have experienced trauma.
Individuals who are committed to helping others, may be at risk of developing compassion fatigue and burnout. Dr. Salazar will present will cover importance concepts related to trauma-informed care when working with vulnerable populations. Participants will learn to identify signs of burnout and compassion fatigue in themselves, understand the factors that play a role in the development of the symptoms, and design a personalized prevention and healing plan so that they can maintain their connection to their work and protect their mental health.
About the presenter: Claudia Salazar, Psy.D
Dr. Claudia Salazar is a Clinical Psychologist in Private Practice in Washington, DC. Dr. Salazar obtained her Psychology degree from the Professional Psychology Program at the George Washington University, and is a graduate of the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy program at the ISTDP institute. She is a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional.
She has over ten years of experience in clinical practice which includes providing psychological evaluations for diagnostic, educational, and immigration purposes, as well as individual psychotherapy. Dr. Salazar has also provided workshops and trainings to several organizations, most recently in the areas of trauma-informed skills for organizations working with vulnerable populations, working with Latinos in psychotherapy, Effective Time-limited psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Resilience for prevention of burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
